Origin Energy Launches TV ads for CSG

Origin, the energy supplier, has launched a new campaign highlighting the benefits of its coal seam gas activities, supported by a four-minute TVC.

The “Working Together” campaign created by BCM also features a country music track composed and recorded by the energy supplier’s agency.

There are regional TV ads, press, radio, online activity, a dedicated campaign website and local promotional activities. The ads feature real consumers in their everyday surroundings taking about their support for Origin and its use of coal seam gas as an alternative energy source.

BCM partner Kevin Moreland says: “Regional communities have always been the backbone of the country and this campaign continues to acknowledge that point.”

More than 150 local people appear in the ads, including farmers who have assisted Origin develop its coal seam gas business by providing access to their land for development.

The energy supplier says its coal seam gas projects in South West Queensland continues to expand rapidly. It currently delivers over 30 per cent of Queensland’s natural gas needs.

There are also 60 and 90 second versions of the TV ads.

Australian Worldwide Exploration Interview

Interview with Managing Director Bruce Wood (Asia Morning Call - Bloomberg, March 2009). Nice interview and one more example of an Australian exploration company flying under-the-radar.

AWE currently has oil and gas interests in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Yemen and Argentina, and is actively reviewing additional growth opportunities.

I have a growing list of great Australian hydrocarbons-related video/audio clips, but am always looking for more. Give me a heads-up if your company has one.

Australian Company Explores Somalia (Puntland)

Typical Australian "the glass is half full" view of the world. Going where no man has gone (or wants to go). More stories like this to follow...

Range Resources currently has a 100% interest in the sole and exclusive rights to all mineral and hydrocarbon exploration and development in the Somali state of Puntland which covers an area of approximately 100,000km2.

The video is a little dated (almost 3 years old), but is very well put together and interesting.

Not neccessarily Australian, but he makes an interesting comment about "being at the Energy table". Clearly Oz is at that table.

40 Years of Gas from Bass Strait

Esso Australia, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, is celebrating its 40th year of producing gas and oil from its Bass Strait fields.

Bass Strait gas was first piped to homes and businesses in Melbourne four decades ago from Esso’s processing plant at Longford. The first home was connected to natural gas on 14 April 1969, making frontpage news around Australia.

In November 1969, Sale became the first town to be connected. Within weeks, almost 8,000 homes and businesses across Gippsland had joined Victoria’s new natural gas revolution.

Westside Coporation announced the major acquisition of two exploration tenements in the north west of Queensland's booming Galilee Basin covering more than 14,000 square kilometres and believed to contain up to 21 Trillion feet of gas.

There is a proposal on the table to issue 3.5 Million Westside Shares to fund the acquisition and joining me now is Angus Karoll, Chairman and CEO of Westside.

In terms of coal seam gas, Queensland's Galilee Basin really is shaping up to be the Texas at the beginning of the oil boom with some very major players in the area.
